Not Hair Bows, But Pew Bows

Why pay $6 for a pew bow at Hobby Lobby when you can make a whole bunch of them for next to nothing?? This project may seem time consuming, but it really isn't and you save a lot of money!

All you need for this project is tulle [by the yard or role (6" wide)], pins, cardboard, and measuring tape.

Before you purchase tulle, make sure you know how many bows you will need to make and what size you would like. Obviously a larger diameter means a bigger bow.

Sizes:
8" diameter- 3 yards for the bow and 1/2 yard for the tail
12" diameter- 4 yards for the bow and 1/2 yard for the tail
16" diameter- 5 1/2 yards for the bow and 1/2 yard for the tail

If you bought tulle by the yard, measure and cut the tulle into 6" wide strands to the length that you wish. I was told this is a waste of time, but it doesn't matter if your lines are perfectly straight and it's cheaper this way!

Take a piece of cardboard and mark the diameter of the bow that you are making. Then, take the strand of tulle and pin it on the marks that you made on the cardboard. Keep folding the tulle back and forth and repining as you go. It's best to do this on the floor so you don't poke yourself with the pins.

Once you're finished pinning the bow, slide the tail piece underneath the pinned tulle and tie a knot. I found it easiest to hold the cardboard down with my feet while I tied the knot.

After tying the knot, pull each loop apart from the other and then place your hand inside each loop to fluff it out. And then you're all finished!
